COMMERCIAL AIRLINES Mackinac Island is served by the Pellston, Michigan Airport located 12 miles south of Mackinaw City. Commercial air service is available daily from Northwest Airlink through Detroit Metropolitan Airport and Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. Air service is also available to Traverse City, Michigan, located approximately one-and-a-half hours southwest of Mackinaw City. The Mackinac Island Airport has a 3,500 foot, lighted, paved runway, capable of handling private and charter aircraft. The airport is located just one mile from Grand Hotel. Horse-drawn taxi service from the airport to Grand Hotel and return is readily available. Air taxi service between the Pellston Airport and Mackinac Island Airport and between St. Ignace Airport and Mackinac Island Airport is available 24 hours a day. For information call Great Lakes Air at (906)643-7165. Mackinac Island can be accessed by automobile by driving to Mackinaw City (Lower Peninsula) or St. Ignace (Upper Peninsula). From there a ferry will take you over to Mackinac Island. To Mackinac Island can be accessed by driving to Mackinac City (on Michigan's lower peninsula) or St Ignace (upper peninsula). WOODS Nestled in the upper wooded portion of Mackinac Island, the casual Bavarian-style ambiance of Woods makes it an ideal luncheon destination for golfers, hikers, or those touring the island by bicycle, foot or carriage. Enjoy homeade soup, salads, sandwiches, and other delicious luncheon entrees while soaking in the island's breathtaking vistas. Woods unique cuisine and atmosphere also make it a delightful spot for a special evening. Horse-drawn carriages are available to this enchanting site. CARLETON'S TEA STORE Lunchoen set in an old-fashioned country store with daily soup and sandwich specialties, teas and confections. Also there is homemade fudge, gifts, and unusual kitchen and tea items. THE JOCKEY CLUB Located on the first tee of The Jewel, featuring sandwiches, soup and salad daily, as well as dinner selections, served a la carte.
